Our Mission

In today’s fast-paced world, reading is a graceful slowdown. In turmoil, reading gives a person a feeling of stability. When everything becomes history instantaneously in this ever-fleeting present, reading unites us like a thread in the fabric of time.

A book has the power unknown to many and its patrons keep declining as we choose to give our limited attention, our most important currency, to momentary gratifications.

Reading is a culture that is being manipulated and deteriorated in real-time and people of low socioeconomic backgrounds are being disproportionately affected due to the systemic oppression in our society and our flawed ideals of what success is supposed to be. Aided by the unfair spread of resources and information, a lingering disease is plaguing the very roots of our society.

Indoctrinated by the societal norms, we have forgotten the roots of learning and

In this world of cut-throat competition, extensive entrance examinations, and constant expectations from us to surpass the masses, we have forced the childish wonder within us to die. It’s even more disheartening to see this trend bleed over to the younger generations.

It is evident that there is a cause for alarm. But it is also true that there is scope for hope.

We as a society are as interconnected as ever and these issues are not “my issues” or “your issues”. They are “our issues”. The problems we face are not in isolation even if they seem to be so in the moment.

And while it is important to talk about these issues, it is equally important to take action.

And hence, we at Bansa Community Library, are attempting to be a part of the solution instead of being part of the problem.

We wish to see a future where people are not ashamed of stating reading as something they are passionate about. Where reading is seen as opportunistic and not dull or boring.

And where everyone, irrespective of their background, can find a place like a library to seek comfort, peace, or solace

Where the toxic patriarchal society with the tendencies suppressing the potential of females holds no value in any sense of the word.

Where we actively work to rekindle the flame of curiosity and the joy of learning in the people who have the least amount of resources to enable this change.

We do not wish there to be any gatekeeping to books and want to provide a completely free space for people who love books. Through our efforts, we want to invest in the future of the youth by empowering them in the present.

We recognize the fact that we do not live in the ideal world and while the social issues and deficiencies can be minimized and mitigated, they cannot be ignored. One such issue is the advent of competitive examinations and the anxiety and negative emotions they induce in students. Most people cannot afford expensive coaching institutions and are, hence, at an unfair disadvantage because of financial aspects.

To those people, we want to provide a space where they can seek resources to facilitate their preparation for such examinations.

We understand that these goals are ambitious, but we do not believe that they are at all impossible.

And with your support, we believe that we can succeed at our goal.

We hope you join us.
